The Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis officially broke ground on a new cruise terminal at Port Zante on July 1, 2026. The project is being led by the St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority and is aimed at turning the twin-island nation into a regional cruise home-porting destination.
Unlike its current role as just a port of call, the new facility will let passengers start and end their cruises in Saint Kitts and Nevis. Officials say this should increase visitor spending, boost hotel stays, improve air travel demand, and create more opportunities for local businesses.
The terminal will feature modern passenger processing, advanced security and baggage screening, and upgraded immigration systems similar to those at Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport.
SCASPA CEO Adeola Moore said the project shows a commitment to building modern, efficient, and future-ready infrastructure to meet growing demand. Tourism Minister Marsha Henderson called it a turning point that will move the country beyond being just a stopover and put it alongside Antigua and Barbados as a transit port.
She added that home-porting is an investment in people and businesses, and that preparations are on track for operations to begin in November 2027. P&O Cruises has already reported strong bookings for departures from Saint Kitts, with more sales programs being finalized.
The government says the development reflects its focus on modern infrastructure and sustainable tourism as it works to strengthen Saint Kitts and Nevis’ position as a leading cruise destination in the Caribbean.
